Public submissions for the proposed Auckland fuel tax close at 8pm on Monday evening.
Auckland Council is proposing to bump up the price at the pump by 10 cents a litre, raising an extra $1.5 billion over a decade for major transport projects, and unlocking billions more in other funding.

Mayor Phil Goff says he won't be raising as much as he wants from the fuel tax, but it's what's needed for the city.
"What I've got to get is the balance of what [Auckland residents] want to pay extra for your petrol and what we need for the city," he told The AM Show earlier in May.
"I won't be spending as much as I think we should be spending, but I won't be hammering the ratepayer anywhere near as much as would otherwise be the case."
National Party leader Simon Bridges says the fuel tax is unnecessary and Auckland residents don't want to pay it.
"In this environment, where frankly you've got record investments already... you don't need new taxes," he told The AM Show in April.
"You just manage [the economy] well, you don't do the dumb stuff."
If passed, the tax will take effect from the start of July 2018.
