An armed man who attempted to rob a store in Morrinsville on Sunday morning left empty-handed.

The man, described as Caucasian and about 1.67m, entered Super Clearance on Studholme St around 6am with a small pocket knife and demanded cash from staff.

He then left the store empty-handed, and police say he may have made his way to a vehicle on Lorne St.

Police are now on the hunt for the man, aged between 25 and 30, dressed in all-black, wearing a black cap and black bandana, as well as black shoes with white soles.

If anyone has information about the incident they are urged to contact police.
