Police investigating a double fatal crash in Northland on Tuesday have charged a 28-year-old man over the deaths.
He faces two charges of aggravated careless use causing death and one charge of aggravated careless use causing injury, police have revealed.
Two people were killed in Tuesday's crash. Police can now reveal the pair who died were Houhora locals Marion Evelyn Andrew, 77, and Pauline Mary Ogilvy, 76.
Three others were left injured after what Stuff reported was a head-on collision.
The man will face his charges at Kaitaia District Court. Police have not revealed when his court appearance is scheduled for.
Police have extended their sympathies to the victims of the incident.
