A man was found dead in a Hastings carpark on Saturday morning.
The man, thought to be in his 20s or 30s, was in a "commercial location" on Pakowhai Rd with adjacent tyre and carpet shops, as well as a martial arts complex, police say.
Police say the death is "unexplained" and his identity is unknown.
"The man was wearing a chequered grey/white long sleeve top, an orange glow vest, blue jeans and black shoes," a media spokesperson says.
"The cause of the man's death is as yet unknown. His death is currently being treated as unexplained and a scene examination is underway."
