A 32-year-old Kiwi Crossfit trainer has died on his wedding anniversary holiday in Thailand, leaving his friends and family distraught.

Harley Fowler was celebrating the second-year date with his partner when he reportedly collapsed during a workout on Wednesday afternoon (NZ time). The cause of death is believed to be a heart-attack, NZME reports.

He leaves behind his wife Amanda, his two-year-old son Kalani and his step-sons Jakey and Jordan.

CrossFit Hibiscus owner John Taurua says the death was "completely unsuspected".

"All we know is he went for a workout, collapsed and then they couldn't resuscitate him," he told NZME.

"He was training every day, not drinking alcohol. He was in the best shape of his life."

Mr Taurua has set up a Givealittle page to support Ms Fowler and their children.

"We want to support Big Harleys beautiful family after his tragic and sudden passing while on holiday in Thailand with his soul mate," the page says.

"Harley and his family are a huge part of our Crossfit Hibiscus Community and we are devastated. We need to get him and Amanda home where they belong among family and friends."
