One person has been killed and three others injured after a crash on the Coromandel Peninsula on Saturday afternoon.
Police originally reported three people were trapped after the two-car crash on Kopu-Hikuai Rd, at around 3:15pm.
A spokesperson for St John says one person died at the scene and another two are seriously injured. A fourth person has moderate injuries.
Two rescue helicopters are at the scene and will take the patients to hospital.
