Trio of earthquakes rock north of South Island

The north of the South Island was rocked by a string earthquakes on Thursday morning.

A 4.3 magnitude quake centred about 20km south of Seddon struck at 12:08 am at 10 km deep, GeoNet says. 

A second 4.4 magnitude quake struck at 5:11am,15 km east of Seddon at a depth of 12km.

This was followed by a third smaller 2.1 magnitude quake that struck 5km from Seddon at 7:07am.
