A wanted man led police on a 20-minute foot chase through Alexandra on Sunday.

When police first saw the 29-year-old he was driving a car on Chicago St - police knew him to be disqualified, so tried to pull him over.

He refused, but stayed below the speed limit - until he crashed into a fence, when - unharmed - he fled on foot.

After running for 20 minutes, he was caught trying to get into a relative's property.

"We are pleased that our fleet-footed and quick-witted staff were able to capture the offender without anyone getting hurt," said Snr Sgt Brian Benn.

The man will appear in court on Monday.
