Baby rescued from police chase in Porirua

A baby has been rescued by police following a car chase in Porirua. 

Police were called to a family harm incident in Cannons Creek, Porirua, after 9am Friday morning. 

As police arrived at the property, a man was leaving and failed to stop. They followed him until he stopped the car in the suburb of Plimmerton in the northeast of Porirua. 

The man involved in the chase, 26, has been arrested, police said, and charged with failing to stop and dangerous driving. He has also been issued a Police Safety Order (PSO) in relation to the family harm incident. 

Police have also confirmed a baby was removed from the car at the time the man was arrested and has been returned to its Cannons Creek home.
