Police are concerned about the welfare of 37-year-old Shannon Earle Makowharemahihi, who has been reported missing from his home in the Coromandel.

He was last seen on June 1, and police say his disappearance is out of character.

Mr Makowharemahihi is 175cm-tall and of thin build. He is also very spiritual and often goes into the bush to meditate, police say.

It is thought he may be in a white 1995 Toyota Hiace van with vehicle registration CNF338.

His family and friends are concerned about his safety, and anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts is urged to contact authorities.

Those with any information that could help locate Mr Makowharemahihi are advised contact Sergeant Andrew Morrison or Constable Dave Hopoi of Coromandel Police on (07) 866 4000.
