The Waverley Bowling Club has confirmed that four people killed in the head-on collision in Waverley were members.
The four occupants of one of the cars were husband and wife Ian and Rosalie Porteous, Brenda Williams and Ora Keene, understood to be Ian's sister.
All were around 80 years of age and Waverley locals.
Bowling club spokeswoman Merle Woodill says: "Everyone is very shocked and sad, the bowling club are really feeling it".

The four were travelling northbound when their car collided with another car travelling south, with Jeremy Thompson, Ani Madams, Nivek Madams, and newborn baby Shady on board.
The accident on SH3 north of Waverley in Taranaki on Wednesday morning was the country's worst in 13 years.
Mr Thompson and the baby girl died at the scene of the accident on SH3 north of Waverley in Taranaki.
Ani Madams, the sole survivor of the crash, remains in a critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit in Wellington Hospital.
Earlier on Thursday morning her daughter Nivek, 8, passed away in Waikato Hospital.
