Good Samaritan gives away All Blacks tickets to 12 young fans

A group of schoolchildren, many who have never had the chance to go to an All Blacks game, will be in the crowd for Saturday night's test in Wellington.

It's all thanks to one very generous rugby fan who won a competition to watch the All Blacks play anywhere in the world, but gave it away instead.

Dave Newman won an All Blacks 'Twelve Days of Christmas' competition at the end of last year.

The grand prize? An all-expenses-paid trip-for-two to watch the All Blacks play anywhere in the world.

Mr Newman thought about going to Australia maybe England? But then he had a better idea.

"I can go and watch that anytime, I can't go and get twelve kids and get them to come to a rugby match, and especially ones that might not have been able to go," he told Newshub.

"I asked the Rugby Union if it was alright to change the rules a little bit. The competition was the twelve days of Christmas, I'd like to turn it into the twelve kids of Christmas to go to the rugby."

The New Zealand Rugby Union found a group of deserving and very excited school kids, many who have never had the chance to go to an All Blacks game before.

On Friday they got meet some of their favourite players and spend some time with the man who made it all happen.

"If you can do something like that for people, aren't we in a better world?" Mr Newman asked.

"What's happened to them over the last couple of hours, I don't think they'll ever forget."

Dave will be sitting right beside them at the game - a night he won't ever forget either.
