A man has been rescued after falling 15 metres onto a rocky ledge in the Tarawera Forest on Saturday.
Emergency services responded about 4pm, however steep terrain at the scene, about 15km from Kawerau, hampered rescue efforts.
The 52-year-old hunter was airlifted to Tauranga Hospital by the Whangarei Rescue Helicopter about 11:40pm.
He remains in a stable condition.
