A person has died and another is injured after a head-on smash between a car and logging truck near Gisborne.
Police were called to State Highway 35 near Makorori Hill just before 8am Saturday.
The driver of the car died at the scene and the injured passenger was taken to Gisborne Hospital as a precaution.
The road is currently closed as investigations continue.
