Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern will spend Friday evening in hospital after giving birth to a baby girl on Thursday.
Newshub has been told Ms Ardern got a small amount of sleep on Thursday night, and had a dinner of marmite toast and Milo.
Everybody is reportedly doing well, but tired.
Nurses have described the baby as "very alert and one hungry baby".
It was one of 24 babies born at Auckland City Hospital on Thursday.
There will be no public appearances from Ms Ardern, her partner Clarke Gayford or their baby on Friday.
