A man called 111 for assistance after he had a reaction to consuming cannabis.

The man was outside the Mobil fuel station in Omarama around midday on Monday when called for medical assistance, a police media spokeswoman says.

He said he had consumed cannabis the night before and was having a reaction to it.

He was not in possession of any drugs at the time when police attended and he has not been charged with anything.

St John medically assessed the man, she says.
