Three teenagers arrested for vicious Queen St assault

Three 17-year-old boys have been arrested for a violent assault on Auckland's Queen St, over a month after the attack took place.

The group of offenders violently attacked the two victims at approximately 2:30am on Saturday May 5 near the Mecca Maxima store.

Both men were left unconscious from the attack and required hospital treatment for their injuries.

All three of the alleged offenders have been charged with two counts of injuring with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

One of them also faces an additional charge of assault with a weapon.

Two of the group have appeared at Auckland District Court and have been remanded on bail. The third will be appearing in the Youth Court.

"I would like to thank members of our community who came forward with vital information which has allowed police to identify those allegedly involved," said Detective Tom Malcolm.
