Walkway helps grieving parents who lost children

Anna McGregor still remembers every moment she spent with her daughter.

On 19 July, 2016, she and her husband Ian met Eva for the first and last time.

During pregnancy, they learned there was a chance their daughter wouldn't survive. The McGregors decided to give their baby a shot at life. But when Eva was born she was alive for just 20 minutes.

"We would go through the whole journey again," Anna told The Project on Friday.

But Eva's memory lives on: The Butterfly Walkway in Porirua is a memorial to children and babies who were taken too soon. Each child has their own plaque along this poignant pathway.

And this week, Eva's mum and dad have attended a blessing in Eva's honour.

Anna and Ian will never get over their loss, but there's some reassurance that Eva's on a path of sorts.
