Hamilton woman fights off predator in terrifying early morning assault

A Frankton woman claims she was forced to hit a man in the head to escape after being dragged to the ground in the early hours of the morning.

Police are seeking any witnesses to the alleged attack, which took place on Higgins Rd, near Ramsay St between 4:30am and 5am on Saturday.

The terrifying encounter saw the woman approached from behind by a man, who assaulted her and dragged her down onto the footpath.

The woman managed to fight him off by striking the man in the head, getting up and running away. The man also ran away along Higgins Rd, in the direction of Killarney Rd.

The man is described as being of medium build and height, and was wearing all black. The woman says he may have lacerations on his head.

Police are urging witnesses to the attack or anyone who knows about it to come forward.
