A New Zealand woman has turned the tables on a man who sent her an unsolicited 'dick pic'  by posting a review online.

Kylee Lawrence, from Taranaki, found the lewd and uninvited photo in her Facebook inbox from a man she shared mutual friends with but had never actually met.

So in response, the 40-year-old decided to send a clear message to the sender that she was not seduced but admitted that his genitalia 'wasn't awful'.

Ms Lawrence said: "I wanted him to see that women don't drool over dick pics and that he opened himself up for scrutiny.

"If a man walked up to you in the street and flashed his willy he would be done for indecent exposure, yet it's ok to send an unwanted picture of it?

"I'm not easily offended, but I can imagine some women would be."

The number of women complaining about men sending dick pics on social media platforms has risen sharply in recent years.

Experts believe the act constitutes sexual harassment, however, it is troublesome to prosecute in countries such as Australia and New Zealand, where it is often only considered unlawful in specified areas of public life.

Due to this loophole, women are increasingly turning to publicly calling the behaviour out.

Ms Lawrence said: "It's very common, almost every one of my female friends chimed in on how many they get and it seems that men really think we like seeing it.

"I think if ladies feel genuinely upset at receiving them they should be able to report the behaviour but as for myself I will keep reviewing them online.

"I hope people enjoyed my honesty in my review, it wasn't an awful penis, really. I made sure I scored him well."
