A worker is in a critical condition after a large machine toppled on him at a West Auckland building site.
Emergency Services were called to the residential Massey building site late this afternoon where a soil compactor had fallen down a bank, trapping its driver underneath.
St John says his colleagues tried to get him out.
The worker was eventually freed and taken by ambulance to Auckland hospital in a critical condition.
The Serious Crash Unit has been notified, and Worksafe NZ will be investigating.
