It's been revealed Napier's National Aquarium of New Zealand has kept up appearances and continued its penguin of the month trend that delighted the country.

New Zealand was introduced to Timmy, the naughty penguin who stole a fish and pushed over another penguin, and Betty the good penguin who waited for fish patiently in a Facebook post from the aquarium in July 2017.

The original photo has been shared on Facebook over 6000 times, gathered over 12,000 reactions and over 5000 comments.

Now it's been an entire year and they have kept up the monthly penguin updates. On Thursday a Twitter thread from user @jonnywaistcoat revealed the board was still going strong.

"The National Aquarium of New Zealand has done it, as advertised, EVERY MONTH since then and, folks, it's a ride. Strap in," he wrote.

July 2018's penguins were Flip the naughty penguin who evaded the keepers on monthly weigh in day and Burny who gave fellow penguin Mo a taste of his own medicine by stealing his fish.
