One person is seriously injured after an explosion at the Affco Moerewa Meat Processing Plant in Northland.
Firefighters were called to the scene just after 7:30pm on Thursday.
The injury, believed to be a serious burn, came about after a coal hopper erupted in flames, reports suggest.
The extent of the damage to the plant is not yet known.
An ambulance is on the scene, and a helicopter has arrived to transport the injured person to hospital. A fire investigator is also heading to the scene.
