A Northland couple are celebrating after two of their local stores removed and vowed to stop selling methamphetamine pipes.

Erana Paraone and her partner Wiremu Keretene convinced Coin Save in Kawakawa to pull the pipes at the front counter.

The couple spoke with the store manager, who has now pulled the stock from their Kaikohe branch as well.

In a post on Facebook, Ms Paraone asked, "Who allows these to be imported into our country?"

"It's illegal to have paraphernalia on your person, illegal to sell drug paraphernalia as a whole completed piece, but shops have been allowed to sell them?"

She said something is wrong if they're able to be sold within the bounds of the law, and wants change to stop New Zealand's children being exposed to the pipes.

Earlier this year, Massey High School in Auckland faced criticism after it gave out a drug pamphlet that gave instructions how to take meth.
