A 13-year-old boy has gone missing in the Tasman District.
He was last seen in the Rai Valley area late on Wednesday.
Police say it's possible that he tried to hitchhike to Nelson. They are concerned for his safety as it has been very cold in the region, reaching a low of 4degC overnight.
The boy is described as being of slight build, with a distinctive birthmark on his right cheek.
Police urge anyone who may have seen the boy or picked him up to call 111 as soon as possible.
