Hamilton police are investigating after a 33-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted early on Saturday morning.
The incident happened on the outskirts of town, and left her with serious facial injuries.
"The victim is currently undergoing medical treatment at Waikato Hospital," says Detective Sergeant Andre Kavanagh.
"Police are working to determine how she was injured."
Police would like to speak with anyone who may have been travelling on State Highway 26 between 11pm on Friday and 3am Saturday and who may have seen a man and woman on the roadside near Eureka.
