Police have named the victim who was found dead under a bridge in Tauranga earlier this week.
He was 26-year-old Mitchell Curtis Rehua Paterson of Ngaruawahia.
His body was found in the water underneath McLaren Falls Bridge at around 11:30am on Friday.
Police are treating the death as suspicious and enquiries are ongoing.
As part of the investigation, police are searching a residential address in Mill Lane, Hamilton.
Bay of Plenty and Waikato Police are working together and a scene guard at the property will remain in place on Sunday.
