A truck and two cars have collided in a serious crash on SH1 on the Kapiti Coast near Wellington on Friday afternoon.
The vehicles collided in the northbound lane between Pukerua Bay and Paekakariki at about 4pm.
One person has been flown by helicopter to Wellington Hospital with moderate injuries and four others have minor injuries.
NZTA advises motorists to delay travel both north and south due to the level of congestion, and drivers should expect severe delays.
SH1 between Paekakariki and Pukerua Bay has been temporarily closed in the southern lane.
Due to a separate crash on Paekakariki Hill Road, there is serious congestion and drivers are advised to avoid the area.
