Two people are uninjured after their car hit a power pole on State Highway 2 near Tauranga.
They collided with the power pole just after 1:30pm on Saturday, causing the intersection to be closed to drivers.
Both remained in the car until the pole was safely isolated. They were not trapped like originally thought, police say.
The road is now re-opened and police have thanked motorists for their patience and cooperation while diversions were in place.
