A man robbed a bank in west Auckland on Sunday afternoon without any customers realising.

The incident happened at the ANZ Bank West City in Henderson just after 2pm.

The suspect handed over a note demanding money, showing the teller he had a pistol inside his jacket.

The teller handed over an undisclosed amount, and the offender ran into the carpark on Edsel St.

No customers in the bank at the time realised what was going on.

Police say he was about 1.83m tall, clean shaven, of solid build and in his early 20s. He was wearing an olive green jacket, a black hoodie, black pants, a grey beanie and sunglasses.

Anyone who recognises the man or has more information is urged to call police on (09) 839 0697 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
