Anti-1080 marchers accuse West Coast farmer of assault

Anti-1080 campaigners are accusing a West Coast farmer of assault in Hari Hari after an incident on Saturday.

Phil Paterson, an anti-1080, "Hikoi of a Poisoned Nation" marcher, had been observing pre-baiting operations near State Highway 6, when he was allegedly hit by a man in an ATV.

Mr Paterson's friend, Daniel Lane, had also been filming at the time when the farmer allegedly drove at the protester.

"He drove straight at him, put his foot down and run him over, and then he even got to the point where he actually put his vehicle into reverse to try and do it again," claimed Mr Lane, who said they had been on public property at the time.

He said Mr Paterson would be pressing charges after reportedly leaving from hospital with pain in his lower right leg.
