Officials are set to detonate an unexploded projectile in Paraparaumu on Sunday afternoon.
Police were advised of the object on Sunday morning.
After consultation with the New Zealand Defence Force Disposal Unit, they decided to detonate the projectile in a controlled explosion.
The explosion is set to occur before 2pm on Sunday.
The Paraparaumu community can expect to hear a loud explosion when the projectile is detonated, but should not be concerned.
