Eleven people have been taken to Christchurch Hospital after being exposed to a chemical spill.

Emergency services were called to the organic peroxide spill at Argus Heating on Maces Rd in Bromley at 9:30 am on Wednesday.

St John spokesperson Gerard Campbell said 10 people had minor injuries and one person suffered moderate injuries. 

The patients were taken to Christchurch Hospital as a precaution.
