Malcom Rewa will stand trial for a third time over the murder of Susan Burdett, a High Court judge ruled on Monday.
Ms Burdett was found raped and bludgeoned to death in her South Auckland home in 1992.

Rewa's bid to avoid a third murder trial was rejected, with Justice Geoffrey Venning finding it is in the interests of justice for the trial to proceed.
He says Rewa can still have a fair trial despite significant public interest.
Rewa was found guilty of raping 27 women, including Ms Burdett, in December 1998.
He was tried twice for the murder of Ms Burdett, but a stay in proceedings was issued after neither jury could agree on whether he was guilty.
