Police are attending a sudden death at Castle Rock, a steep hiking destination near Whitianga.
Emergency services were called to the scene just before 10:30am on Sunday.
The death is currently being treated as unexplained.
Police are inquiring to understand the circumstances of the death.
Castle Rock is the core of an old volcano, which now makes up part of a popular walking track. A body was found on the walking track in June, thought to be that of missing 37-year-old Shannon Earle Makowharemahihi.
The Coromandel Town website says the trail is "very steep near the summit" and advises those traversing it to take care in wet and windy conditions.
