Turangi robbers pull over tourists, steal luggage and cash

Police are seeking witnesses after an aggravated robbery just south of Turangi on Saturday afternoon.

At around 4:30pm, two male tourists had their car stopped on Atirau Rd near the Turangi Golf Course.

They were then robbed and threatened by three male offenders, who were driving an older red vehicle.

The offenders are described as Māori, and two of them had facial tattoos, the tourists told police.

The tourists had their cash and luggage taken, as well as a cellphone.

Police are keen to speak with anyone with information about the incident or the offenders.
