Fifty lambs that were reported to police as stolen have been found in another farmer's paddock in Fairhill, Marlborough.

The lambs escaped from their paddock and merged with another flock, police have confirmed after earlier sending out a statement saying the lambs were stolen.

The combined flocks were moved onto another property and the farmer later realised that the missing sheep were included.

The lambs belong to the Ashmore Valley Vineyard paddocks on Grahams Rd.

Police have thanked the public for their help.
