At least 100 job losses are imminent as student numbers drop at Auckland's Unitec.

Nineteen courses will be axed next year as the tertiary institution's interim CEO Meran Davis says costs need to be cut by 20 percent.

"We are looking at all parts of the organisation with regards to how we're actually going to find that cost reduction," she told RadioLIVE.

She says current students won't be affected, and those taking the affected courses will still be able to complete their degrees.

"We're absolutely committed to ensuring that students can complete their qualifications, we will be teaching out those qualifications."
