A piece of art created by Jacinda Ardern has been auctioned off for $2100.

The auction, hosted by Mt Eden Normal Primary School, raised funds for the school and included a range of well-known New Zealand artists, including a pottery piece by Martin Poppelwell.

The piece by our very own Prime Minister was simple and straight to the point - a mock to-do list that listed one item: "everything".

Ms Ardern is not the first of our Prime Ministers to try their hand at art. Last year a sketch signed by Helen Clark failed to sell at auction on Trade Me.

In 2002 the then-Prime Minister signed a number of paintings that were sold for charity, but the National Party accused her of deception as she did not actually make the art herself.

John Key also has a connection to the art world. His daughter Stephanie, studying art in Paris at the time, made headlines in 2015 when she posted a set of risqué photos to Instagram.

The photos included one of her covering her breasts with hamburgers and another of her body covered in sushi and an octopus.

The Mt Eden Normal Primary School auction had 120 pieces of art and 57 artists.
