A man has died after a crash involving in a car and truck on State Highway 35 near Gisborne.
Emergency services were called to the crash near Makarori Beach Rd at around 9pm on Friday.
The man, who was driving the car, died at the scene.
Motorists were being advised to avoid the area, with road closures and diversions in place at Sirrah St and Makarori Beach Rd.
The serious crash unit is investigating the crash.
