Man draws knife on Thai restaurant staff in Christchurch

Police have released CCTV images of the suspect who robbed a Thai restaurant in Christchurch on Wednesday night. 

The man threatened staff with a knife at Erawan Thai Restaurant at the intersection of Shirley Rd and Hill Rd at around 6:45pm, demanding money. 

Det Segt Craig Johnson said staff and guests at the restaurant ran out a side door.

No one was hurt. A significant amount of cash was taken from the till. 

Police want to hear from anyone who may have seen the man running from the scene. It's understood he ran down Shirley Rd towards New Brighton.
