Motueka hit-and-run puts two in hospital

Police are investigating after a car hit two pedestrians in Motueka on Saturday morning.

There were reports of "disorder" on York St shortly after 2am, police said. Emergency services arrived to find two men had been hit by a car.

Both were flown to hospital by helicopter. One remains there in a serious condition, while the other was discharged later on.

The car believed to have been involved in the collision, a green Subaru station wagon, was found on Old Wharf Rd. The driver remains at large.

The street has now been reopened, but police are continuing to make enquiries.
