Police have had to step in after Massey High School grounds were entered by students from a nearby school.

Police were called to Massey High School after a lunchtime fight broke out at around 1:40pm. They say they were notified of "disorder" involving a group of students.

They spoke with a number of people. No one was injured during the fight.

A post on Massey High School's Facebook page states several students from another school attempted to enter the grounds during their lunch break.

"The school has followed our standard procedures in this instance and the matter is now at an end," the post reads.

"We would like to clarify that there have been no injuries and the school has not been placed in lockdown."

Unconfirmed reports suggest those who entered the school were armed with knives, and people actually were injured.

There are also claims the fracas was triggered by an earlier rap battle.

Massey High School has responded to those claims in a follow-up Facebook post, reiterating its earlier comments.
