The search for a missing man in south Otago will continue on Saturday morning, after Friday's efforts came up empty.

Ian Marshall, in his 60s, hasn't been seen since Thursday morning. There was a suspected sighting on Thursday evening.

He's believed to be wearing dark green overalls and gumboots.

On Friday, three boats, a helicopter and seven volunteer LandSAR teams searched from Manuka Island to Balclutha, without luck.

Police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen him - perhaps at Kaka Point Road or the Owaka Highway between 11am and 2pm Thursday, or Blair Athol walkway between 4pm and 6pm.

Call police on (03) 363 7400.
