Several tyres slashed in North Shore rampage

A number of vehicle tyres appear to have been deliberately slashed overnight in a suburb on Auckland's North Shore.

The tyres of up to 22 vehicles have been tampered with on Tiri Tiri Rd in Birkdale, a local told Newshub, after he spoke with police on Wednesday morning.

Images obtained by Newshub show several vehicles parked along the North Shore street with deflated tyres.

The local told Newshub his wife called him when she arrived at work on Wednesday morning to tell him she had noticed "two or three" vehicles on their street with slashed tyres.

He said she urged him to check if their flatmates' vehicles - which were parked outside on the street - had also been tampered with, and they had been.

"I walked up the road, maybe five houses from my home, and I noticed quite a few cars had their tyres slashed," the local said.

"I had a chat with one of my neighbours - who is currently changing his tyres - and he was the one who called the police," he added.

Police scoured then area when they arrived, the local said, taking pictures of the affected vehicles.

The Birkdale local said his neighbour has four dogs, and said the dogs started barking at around midnight. But the neighbour did not go outside to check what the dogs were barking at.

Police scoured then area when they arrived, the man said, taking pictures of the affected vehicles.
