A Whangarei woman has admitted robbing an elderly Christchurch couple where police allege she used garden secateurs as a weapon.

Maera Elizabeth Todd, of Whangarei, pleaded guilty to the robbery when she appeared via video-link in the Christchurch District Court on Monday.

The couple were allegedly robbed of a cellphone, wallet and other contents on August 13, by Todd and Shantai Lawson, 38, of Rotorua, Court News reports.

Lawson denies the charge and has been remanded in custody until October 8.

Todd has been remanded in custody for sentencing in November.
