The man known as the 'Beast of Blenheim' has been found guilty of 11 historical sex charges.

Stewart Murray Wilson appeared at Auckland's High Court on Tuesday, charged with 16 sexual offences.

The jury found him guilty of 11 of those charges, including rape, attempted rape, indecent assault, threatening to kill and indecency with a girl under the age of 12, Stuff reports.

He was found not guilty on two rape charges and one indecent assault charge. The jury could not reach a verdict on two other charges.

Wilson was imprisoned for 21 years in 1996 for another raft of sexual offences, including rape and sexual assault.

In 2012, he was released under strict conditions to a house within the grounds of Whanganui Prison, but was recalled to jail in 2013 after breaching parole.
