A body, believed to be of missing Napier man Alex Latimer has been located at a Te Haroto property.

While the body located on Saturday has not been formally identified, police believe it to be Mr Latimer, who has been missing since September 30, according to Det Insp Mike Foster.

Police believe Mr Latimer was on his way to the Te Haroto, and was last seen at the Bayview service station.

On Thursday, search warrants were issued by police, include for a property in Te Haroto.

Two men, aged 24 and 26, were charged with assault in relation to the investigation and appeared in the Hastings District Court on Friday.

Further charges are expected to be laid.

The police are continuing to appeal for any sightings of Mr Latimer's white 2000 Toyota Corolla, with the registration of ZE8110, between Sunday and Monday.

It was located burned out on Omaranui Rd on Monday.
