Homicide investigation launched after body found at Charing Cross outside of Christchurch

A homicide investigation has been launched after a body was found at Charing Cross outside of Christchurch.

Det Insp Corrie Parnell said police believe an altercation took place between two men.

Emergency services were called to Charing Cross, Selwyn, between Grange Rd and Telegraph Rd at 3.30pm on Saturday.

Road spikes were later deployed in the area, while five armed officers entered a nearby property.

A scene guard will remain in place overnight, with a full scene examination to begin on Sunday morning.

A number of people are currently assisting police.
