One person is dead following a car crash on State Highway 2 at Maramarua in the Waikato.
Police say a vehicle collided with a pedestrian at the intersection of Dimmocks Rd and SH2 just after 9pm on Monday.
A second vehicle swerved to avoid the incident and crashed into trees, while a third vehicle coming from the opposite direction also tried to avoid the incident and rolled.
The pedestrian died at the scene while at least four other people from the three vehicles involved are being treated for minor to moderate injuries.
It's the second fatal crash in the Waikato region overnight, after one person died in a single car crash on Waitete Rd in Te Kuiti.
Two others were transported to hospital with moderate injuries.
